BREED
HISTORY
The
Bengal Cat is a domestic cat that has been breed to look like a
miniature Leopard or as most of us would say " Lap Leopard".
The Domestic Bengals size ranges from the males being an average
weight of 15 lbs ( but may look heavier because of their long and
muscular bodies) to the Females with an average weight of around 11
lbs.
The
Bengals came about by Jean Mills who bred an Asian Leopard Cat (as
pictured below) with a Black Domestic Cat.

The breed was originally
started in 1963 by Jean but was not recognized by organizations such
as the T.I.C.A until the early 1980's.
The Bengal Cats personality is
very different from other felines but overall they are very curious,
determined and humorous cat. The Bengals have a dog like personality
and disposition about them. They love to jump, play in water and can
even be taught to play fetch.
